The race is on for the signature of Abraham Sesay, a highly sought-after football talent who has narrowed his college choices to just six elite institutions. But the real surprise is who didn't make the cut.
Sesay, a towering 6-foot-4.5 and 225-pound EDGE player, is a top-100 prospect in the 2027 cycle, ranked 77th overall and 10th in his position by Rivals Industry Ranking. This ranking service holds him in particularly high esteem, placing him 38th overall and 5th in his position nationally.
And yet, Ohio State, a program that seemed to be trending for Sesay's pledge, is notably absent from his top six. This is a twist that has many recruiting experts scratching their heads, especially since the Buckeyes had him on campus last fall.
So, which schools did make the cut? Sesay has his eyes on Duke, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Penn State, and South Carolina. And two of these programs have been particularly aggressive in their pursuit.
But here's where it gets controversial: Notre Dame and Penn State have been the most persistent recruiters, but is that enough to secure a commitment?
Sesay expressed his interest in Notre Dame, praising their educational structure and cultural values. Meanwhile, Penn State has been in the mix, with Coach Christian Smith leading the charge even before his move to Northwestern.
Duke, however, made a strong impression on Sesay during a recent visit, where he was blown away by the facilities and the basketball game experience. But is a great visit enough to sway a recruit's decision?
As Sesay gears up for more visits in the coming months, the question remains: Will he commit before his senior season, or will he keep everyone guessing?
